Energy efficiency regulations and the new realities of end users require changes in components and equipment design: increasingly reduced spaces with increasingly efficient formulas to save electrical consumption and size.
With these specific needs of the Packaging sector in mind, Bonfiglioli has a solution that fits these increasingly common premises in the industry: a high-efficiency reluctance motor along with a decentralized drive that offers the possibility of positioning without the need to add external encoders.
Design adapted to the Packaging sector
The BSR unit, Bonfiglioli’s IE4 synchronous reluctance motor, provides constant torque at zero speed or Holding Torque and does not require forced ventilation since there is no induction on the rotor, being able to work from 0Hz or 0 rpms to 100Hz or 3000 rpms of nominal speed.
Being a synchronous motor and with no slip, we can control the rotor’s position at all times. Thanks to this and the specific adapted firmware, it is possible to work with Bonfiglioli’s DGM decentralized drives (Descentralized Geared Motor) in open loop with positioning guarantee.
This type of decentralized drive allows working through Ethernet communications, offering, in a single product, the required communication bus depending on the Master, simply by selecting whether ECAT, EthernetIP, or ProfiNET is needed. It incorporates STO and can be used as decentralized periphery since, powered at 24Vdc, it will keep communications alive in case of power supply cut-off.
